Christie: Not worried about lawsuit over security costs

Gov. Chris Christie has no shot in Iowa, but that didn't stop him from spending most of the weekend at the Iowa State Fair, shaking hands and working behind fair booth counters.

Christie was asked about a lawsuit that was filed against him on Friday by advocacy groups claiming he should have to reimburse New Jersey taxpayers for his state police security costs incurred while he's been campaigning for president.

Christie said the groups, which include the New Jersey Working Families Alliance and New Jersey Citizen Action, have sued him over so many things he can't keep track.

"This is just another of the pile of garbage that they put a title on and file with a check at the courthouse. So I don't worry about it at all," Christie said.

Christie has long argued his campaign shouldn't pay the costs because his state police protection is mandatory regardless of what he's doing. Since taking office in 2010, over $1 million has been spent on Christie's out-of-state security costs.
