Christie is set to appear Monday afternoon at Foley's campaign headquarters in Trumbull.

Foley is locked in a tight race against Democratic Gov. Daniel P. Malloy.

In his role as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, Christie has raised a record amount of money for campaigns across the country.  In fact, the RGA has contributed more than $2.7 million to the pro-Foley political action committee, known as Grow Connecticut, as of Sept. 25.

The governor's race in Connecticut is among a handful of close gubernatorial races where Christie has spent a lot of time over the last few months.

How these candidates fare in their races could be a factor in deciding whether more GOP heavy-hitters will support Christie's bid for president, if he should decide to run in 2016.
