New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's planned fundraising swing through Michigan is drawing criticism from Democrats.

Christie is raising money as chairman of the Republican Governors Association and is scheduled to attend association fundraisers in the state on Wednesday. He also will be the special guest at a fundraiser that day for U.S. Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills.

Democrats around the country are trying to link the Christie administration's decision to clog traffic along the George Washington Bridge last fall Republican candidates. The Michigan Democratic Party on Monday said Land won't hold public events with voters but will attend a fundraiser with the "ethically-challenged" Christie.

A message seeking comment was left with Land's campaign. She's expected to face Democrat Gary Peters in November.
