Is there proof that Gov. Chris Christie knew about the lane closures at the George Washington Bridge in September 2013 that erupted into Bridgegate?

That's the big question as reports surface that one of Christie's key appointees to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is prepared to plead guilty as early as Friday in exchange for telling all he knows. What former Port Authority official David Wildstein knows and what he can prove could ultimately determine Christie's political future.

Christie has been mulling a run for president and said he will announce his decision in May or June.

The Bridgegate scandal has continued to erode Christie's popularity and it could hurt his potential White House bid.

A Quinnipiac University poll released last week shows that 57 percent of voters don’t think Christie caused Bridgegate, while 32 percent believe he did. However, many think he did know about the plot to cause unannounced lane closures at the bridge. In fact, 53 percent think he knew about the plot, while 38 percent said he didn’t.
