Christie administration asks court to review pension contribution ruling

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- The Christie administration has formally asked an appellate judge to review a case involving New Jersey's public pension system.

Court documents posted Monday show the administration is asking that a March 31 filing deadline for briefs be set. The request was filed Friday.

Christie is appealing a February ruling from state Superior Court Judge Mary Jacobson that delivered a victory for public sector unions.

Jacobson ruled Christie and lawmakers must collaborate to find $1.57 billion to pay into the system.

Christie last year cut payments that had been agreed to in 2011 because the state's revenues fell short.

New Jersey Education Association executive director Ed Richardson says a review would not be helpful. He says every delay increases the pension liability.
