It was a different feeling today outside the doors of the Assembly chamber, as Governor Chris Christie prepared to share his remarks before a joint session of the Legislature.

I have been at the State House for a few State of the State addresses and budget speeches, and usually before entry, Christie was joyful and would acknowledge those around him.

This time around, following the sudden passing of Republican Assembly leader Alex DeCroce (the issue Christie would be addressing), Christie and his wife were silent. At one point, the Governor appeared to bow his head in prayer.
