Christie said he wants to see results, or he’ll go back to the drawing board.

“It’s obviously a pivotal year because we need to make continued progress in Atlantic City or we’re going to need to start considering alternatives,” Christie said. “I’m going to expect to see continued growth and development.”

The governor said the state worked hard to get United Airlines to serve Atlantic City from its two largest hubs in Chicago and Houston, making it more convenient for people in other parts of the country to fly to Atlantic City.  He said the move should  bring tourists and revenue, but it’s not a cure all.

“I’m going to continue to work with now the new mayor (Don Guardian, R-Atlantic City), the Senate President (Steve Sweeney, D-West Deptford) and the incoming Assembly Speaker (Vincent Preito, D-Secaucus) to try to see what else we need to do to try to enhance the continued growth and development of Atlantic City,” Christie said. “It is a very pivotal year, but it is a year where we have to start showing significant results.”
