The governor said Thursday he will promote the No. 2 official in the Atlantic County Prosecutor's office, James McClain, to replace incumbent Theodore Housel. Housel was appointed by former Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine.

In Ocean County, Christie named Joseph Coronato to succeed Marlene Lynch Ford, and in Morris County, he proposed Frederic Knapp to succeed Robert Bianchi.

The nominations must be approved by the state Senate.
