Christie announced his intention to seek a second term on Monday. But he said Wednesday he hasn't talked it over with Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.

The 50-year-old Republican says he and his No. 2 likely will sit down next week to talk about the future.

Guadagno is a former Monmouth County sheriff and the state's first lieutenant governor.

Christie has given her authority to oversee the administration's economic development efforts. She has stayed mostly in his shadow, but the position could get more attention in next year's election because of speculation that if Christie's re-elected, he could leave office early to mount a presidential bid in 2016.

Through a spokesman, Guadagno declined to comment.
