The union that represents most police at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey threw its support behind the Republican governor at a rally on Tuesday.

Union head Paul Nunziato says Corzine treated the union fairly, but Christie has treated them "tremendously."

Christie told the cheering throng at the Newark Airport Hilton that he will continue to support Port Authority police in their dispute with the New York City police department over who will provide security at the former World Trade Center site.

Port Authority police patrol the New York metropolitan region's airports, tunnels, bridges and ports in addition to the World Trade Center.
