Child Shooting in Camden Was Apparent Accident
Authorities say an incident where an 11-year-old shot a 12-year-old boy in the face at a Camden apartment complex last week appears to have been accident.
Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk says investigators spoke with both children and determined the shooting was not intentional. Faulk also says neither child was aware the weapon was loaded.
But investigators are still pursuing leads to determine who the gun belonged to and how the children got access to the weapon.
The shooting occurred Friday morning at the Crestbury Apartments on Hunter Street, in the unit where the older boy lives. The wounded child remains hospitalized, but is expected to fully recover from his wounds.
The names of the children involved have not been disclosed, but Faulk says they are not related.
