April Brandon told NBC Philadelphia her son Kenneth Smith, one of 10 people still unaccounted for after Sunday's incident, went to high school in Cherry Hill after his naval officer father was transferred to South Jersey.

Navy divers searching a flooded compartment of the warship found remains of some of the missing sailors, U.S. Pacific Fleet commander Adm. Scott Swift said Tuesday as he promised a full investigation.

In a tweet, Chief of Naval operations Adm. John Richardson said there is no indication of a cyber attack — an idea floated in some media — "but (a) review will consider all possibilities."

"He's tough. I have hope" of his survival Brandon, who lives in Michigan,  told the Detroit Free Press

None of those on board have been identified by the Navy. Bradon told the newspaper she received a visit from two Navy officers who told her Smith was on board the USS John McCain.
