Chase "That Golden Thunder" is a Golden Retriever who began his work at the Arm & Hammer Park in 2002, quickly becoming a fan favorite for retrieving bats and balls (and sometimes Frisbees) and returning them to the dugout.

In 2008, Chase sired a litter of puppies, two of which went on to hold similar positions.

Derby took over Chase's retrieving duties in 2010 at Trenton Thunder, while Ollie works as a bat dog for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

News of Chase's death comes on the heels of his retirement party, held just three days ago at the park.

"Chase was such a tremendous part of the Trenton Thunder identity for more than 10 years," said Thunder General Manager Will Smith in a news release on the stadium's site.
