NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League, Sammy’s Hope and Jersey Girls Animal Rescue to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes.

Charlie was saved from a high kill shelter in GA where he was found as a stray. He is a Lab/Borzoi mix and is heartworm positive. He is about 3 years old and is the sweetest, most loyal and affectionate dog and he deserves to find a loving home once he recovers from heartworm treatment. Charlie is a special needs pup who needs a loving foster or forever home. The good news is that it is treatable. During that time however, Charlie needs to be in a quiet home where he can rest and recover during treatment. He needs a special person. Is that you? If so, contact jerseygirlsanimalrescue@gmail.com.

Ghost is about a year old, is very sweet, likes people, and seems to like other dogs. Ghost's only been with us for a very short time so we're just getting to know him but from what we've observed, he seems to be very calm and not over active. Ghost did really well in a training session and he was perfectly behaved at an adoption event, but he does get spooked sometimes. Ghost walks nicely and is picking commands up very quickly.

If you’re interested in learning more about Roscoe or to schedule a visit, email his foster at rmk22005@gmail.com. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs, puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Persia

Persia truly is beautiful in spite of the fact that fleas tormented her so badly that she scratched half of her fur off trying to find relief. The truth is, she looked awful! Thankfully, she was brought to the shelter, along with her 2 kittens, and we were able to get rid of those nasty critters. Persia’s fur is growing back with the sleek gorgeous sheen that only a black cat has. Persia’s kittens were a little older so even though she didn’t need to care for them anymore, she was not about to be separated from them. All 3 happily shared a kennel where they played and enjoyed the attentions staff and volunteers alike. Now that our girl is feeling better, she is more than ready for her happily ever after. So, will you be the lucky adopter who gets to receive all of her love and watch as our ugly duckling turns into a swan?

If you are interested in meeting Persia or fostering/adopting her, please contact us or email us at cats@sammyshope.org

Adopt Jerry

Meet Jerry - a big, lovable goofball. He is between three and four years old and we’re sure that he wishes he were a lap dog. He loves to give kisses and is prone to rolling over on his belly for a good scratching. He is a strong boy with a loving temperament. He loves to play. Jerry has been at the shelter for almost a year now and is definitely ready for a loving, forever home.

He has bonded with one of the volunteers and has learned to sit and lie down on command. He walks very well on the leash with a harness (he is a strong boy). While walking he pays no attention to other dogs and does not react to passersby. He is really rather mellow. Because of his size and playfulness we would not place him in a home with small children and he needs an owner who is willing to work with him and establish control and boundaries. Jerry is an impressive-looking animal and draws attention when out in public.

Come meet him and fall in love. You can contact the volunteer who has been spending lots of time with him and she would be happy to make an appointment to meet you at the shelter and introduce you to Jerry. Her name is Sharon and her number is 585-259-3726.
