Channel 2 news anchor Rob Morrison has resigned following charges he choked and threatened his wife in their Connecticut home.

"I have informed CBS 2 management that I need to put all of my time and energy into making sure that I do what's best for my wife and my son," Morrison said in a statement. "I very much appreciate the opportunity that CBS 2 has given me and I thank them for accepting my decision."

The anchor of WCBS TV's morning and noontime anchor was was arrested Sunday in Darien, Connecticut. on charges that he threatened and choked his wife, fellow television journalist Ashley Morrison. She is an anchor for "CBS Moneywatch."

He has denied choking or otherwise assaulting her.

Morrison also made a death threat against his wife as he was being arrested. The alleged threat was revealed in a court document released during yesterday's arraignment of Rob Morrison.

New York City police say they were called to the couple's former Manhattan home 11 times between 2004 and 2009 because of domestic disputes.

The New York Daily News reports management summoned Morrison to a meeting in Manhattan today and was upset Morrison lied to them at first as to how he received scratches on his face.
