The picketing staged Saturday at the Tropicana Casino and Resort was organized by members of Local 54 of Unite-HERE, the city's main casino workers union. It was led by 21 Tropicana workers who were recently reinstated to their jobs after being suspended for 30 days following a similar protest last month.

The suspended workers represented all the Tropicana protesters who blocked traffic and were arrested as part of the June 15 demonstration.

The union has staged several events in recent months to protest the lack of a new contract and the casino's termination of its employee pension plan in favor of cash payments to workers.
