The 12 casinos saw their revenue decline by 3.6 percent in July compared with the same month a year ago.

The casinos won $215.5 million from slot machines, and an additional $81.7 million from table games.

The biggest increase was posted by Revel Casino Hotel, which began a "you can't lose" slots refund promotion in July. But the way it refunded losses -- gradually crediting them back to a player's club card over several months -- angered some gamblers. Revel's monthly revenue went up more than 33 percent.

Nine casinos saw their revenue decline in July.

For the first seven months of the year, Atlantic City's casinos won $1.68 billion, down 9.6 percent from the same period last year.
