Car hits bus in Newark, several injured
NEWARK (AP) — The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a crash involving a car and a New Jersey Transit bus in Newark.
NJ Transit says the bus was headed to Bloomfield when the car ran a red light and hit the vehicle.
The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Central Avenue and South 8th Street.
According to broadcast reports, a passenger in the car was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The bus driver and six passengers also were taken to a hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
