MOUNT HOLLY — Police have apprehended a fugitive wanted in connection with the stabbing death of a Mount Holly woman.

According to the Burlington County Prosecutor's office, Rashon A. Causey, 38, was taken into custody Wednesday night at approximately 8:30 p.m. inside his Burlington City home.

Causey was charged in the fatal stabbing of Shanai Marshall, 37, with whom he had a child. Authorities say Causey forced his way into the woman's house on Monroe Street in Mount Holly just before midnight on Monday and stabbed her multiple times.

Marshall was flown by helicopter to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton where she succumbed to her wounds Tuesday. Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood conducted an autopsy on Marshall Wednesday which determined that the death was a homicide and the cause of death was a stab wound to her head.

Causey is facing charges including first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree burglary, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Bail for Causey was set at $1,050,000 with no 10 percent option. His first court appearance was scheduled for Thursday morning.
