Children's Garden director Mike Devlin says he received a letter from the state Treasury Department last week saying that the garden needs to move by March 31 so the land can go to the Adventure Aquarium.

But Devlin contends that the property where his nonprofit operates is owned by the city government, not the state.

The garden has a horticultural playground and it also helps run 120 community gardens around Camden, one of the nation's poorest cities.

It has long had a tense relationship with its neighbor, the for-profit Aquarium.

An aquarium spokeswoman would not say whether the attraction was planning an expansion.
