What time do your kids catch the bus? State lawmakers are questioning the start time of our middle and high schools, suggesting students are beginning too early. A Senate committee on Thursday passed a measure that calls for a government study of start times, including a review of reports showing that starting later could boost academic performance. The American Academy of Pediatrics recently recommended school start times of 8:30 a.m. or later.

The carjackers charged with shooting and killing a man at the Mall at Short Hills just before Christmas last year may have been casing the parking deck for days. Surveillance video shows the suspects driving around the parking garage three days before the attack then again that night. They are charged with shooting Dustin Friedland, yanking his wife out of their Range Rover and driving off with the SUV. But a lawyer for Friedland's widow says there were no surveillance cameras in the parking garage. He is suing the mall and calls the lack of cameras an outrage.

The plan to help Atlantic City involves giving casinos predictable taxes, freezing taxes on non-gambling property, giving schools more aid if they reduce costs and temporarily halting contributions to employee pension plans. Details are emerging from the governor's latest summit in AC. Christie has not committed to any of those suggestions.

Casino revenues dropped more than 4 percent in October, but the survivors following all those recent closings actually saw their revenues rise an average of 19 percent. Police have ruled the drowning of a toddler at a Millville daycare an accident but this morning we can tell you that daycare was not licensed by the state. She was caring for six kids in her home...and was the only one there when the boy drowned in a fish pond.

The Renault Winery was due to be put up for auction this morning but that is on hold after the company filed for bankruptcy. Renault has long been a South Jersey landmark and employs about 200-people. Winery officials say this will allow them to restructure and remain open.

Now comes word government officials are getting an increasing number of reports from pilots that the unmanned aerial devices have been spotted flying dangerously near to their airplanes and helicopters…
