Bus Crash Closes Route 3
A bus has crashed on Route 3 in Clifton, leaving its front end stuck on the concrete road divider and causing traffic problems all over the area.
The crash of a DeCamp commuter bus occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday on the eastbound side at Main Avenue.
New Jersey FastTraffic reports delays on Route 3 eastbound go back to Route 46 which then is slow back to Interstate 80.
The Garden State Parkway is slow for several miles in both directions approaching Route 3 and local roads are full of drivers trying to escape the delays.
One lane is getting by on the westbound side and is subject to closure to allow emergency equipment to access the crash site and help with the cleanup. Westbound Route 3 delays start in the Meadowlands.
Clifton Sgt. William Frank says the extent of passenger injuries is not yet known. He says one other vehicle was involved in the crash.
Passengers remained on the bus after the accident as emergency responders worked to stabilize the vehicle.
