Buono Rips Christie TV Ad In Interview [VIDEO]

Democrat candidate for Governor Barbara Buono believes Chris Christie thinks his high approval numbers are “artificially high” as the reason he is running  a campaign spot already.

Christie debuted a spot, “Jersey Proud,” in the New York and Philadelphia TV markets this week at a cost of $1.2 million.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “The Last Word”  with Lawrence O’Donnell, Buono agreed with the host’s opinion that Christie is running ads early because he is concerned his poll numbers won’t stay high.  “It is a little surprising It shows his numbers are artificially inflated because of Hurricane Sandy.”

Buono says residents are not proud of his record on creating new jobs and reducing property tax. “He’s living in some alternative universe where, you know, we are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to economic growth, and yet he’s calling it a New Jersey comeback. I beg to differ and I’m going to change that,” Buono promised.

She says the Governor has “turned his back” on the middle class with his policies.

The state Senator  also discussed part of her gun control plan and her proposal to limit magazine clips to 10 rounds, something the Governor did not include in his own plan. “Hopefully we are going to have a meeting of the minds and pass something meaningful, because it is time to stand up to the gun lobby. Our children demand it. Our families demand it,” said Buono, who promised to make it a priority of her first term in office.
