Superstorm Sandy took on a prominent role in New Jersey's gubernatorial race as Labor Day approached.

Republican Gov. Chris Christie hit one shore town after another in the run-up to the holiday as his opponent challenged the "Stronger than the Storm" ad campaign.

Democratic Sen. Barbara Buono's Web video features a couple who says they haven't recovered from October's mega-storm.

Buono says Christie needs to explain why people are still living in trailers 10 months after the storm.

Christie says the chance to lead the state through the rebuilding sealed his decision to run again. But he acknowledges the recovery isn't complete.

The governor is storming toward a second term. Buono faces the formidable task of convincing voters she would be a stronger chief executive.

The election is Nov. 5.
