NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Adopt Buffy

Buffy is one of our black, velvet teenage kittens from a litter of three. She's a delicate little girl with a few small flecks of white on her fur. She is friendly, sweet and cannot understand why no one has adopted her yet, but she knows people can be silly about black cats. In Asia, black cats symbolize good luck and Buffy promises to bring you nothing but good luck if you take her home!  She's FIV and FeLv negative, spayed and up-to-date with vaccinations. Buffy is currently at the shelter's PetSmart location on Rt. 27 in Edison.

If you're interested in meeting Buffy or fostering/adopting her, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Carmen

Carmen was found wandering around near Carmen's & Son Auto Services in Ewing Township before being trapped and taken to the Ewing Animal Shelter. She is a sweet, loving and friendly dog. We think she is about a year old. Carmen is currently being fostered by a family that has two other dogs. She is great with both dogs and all people, but has issues with being crated for long periods of time. Carmen also suffers from separation anxiety, which is something her foster family is working on.

If you’re interested in learning more about Carmen or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Ace

Ace is a gentle dog with an impressive stature. He has soulful eyes, with a kind of sadness in them, that engage you at first sight. Ace has been at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter for far too long and he's hoping to finally find a forever home. When people walk through the kennels looking to adopt, most of the dogs bark wildly and jump up and down in their kennels - as if to say, "pick me, look at me." Ace remains calm, thinking that will make him stand out, looking so well behaved. He knows that the American Staffordshire Terrier breed on his file is just a fancy name for Pit Bull, the most misunderstood breed of dog. Ace knows there is little he can do to change anyone's mind, so he just sits and puts on his best gentleman behavior, in the hopes that someone will notice what a good dog he is. Ace dreams that one day he will be home, curled up next to his family and feel the love that he longs for.

If you're interested in meeting Ace or fostering/adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Frazier is an adult tabby cat. He's known as the Romeo of the shelter because he's so friendly and cuddly. He'll roll over for a good tummy rub at a moment’s notice. Frazier is up-to-date on his vaccinations, house-trained and neutered.

To schedule a visit to meet Frazier, please email kitty@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. You can find more of EASEL’s adoptable cats and kittens here, or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
