A southern New Jersey man was held on $1 million bail Friday after being charged with the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend in her Gloucester County home.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said police found 42-year-old Mark Holloway in an abandoned trailer in Monroe Township Friday morning.

Investigators believe Holloway stabbed 43-year-old Kim Barnum multiple times in her Washington Township apartment Thursday before getting into a car driven by his mother. They said his mother intended to take him to police, but he jumped out of the vehicle.

An autopsy showed Barnum sustained significant knife wounds to a lung and her aorta.

Holloway was charged with murder and a weapons offense and was being held in Gloucester County Jail.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said local police had handled "multiple domestic violence incidents" involving Holloway and Barnum, the most recent in April. Barnum declined to have a temporary restraining order issued against Holloway at that time.
