Newark Police Director Sam DeMaio will later join Booker and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder at the White House on Tuesday to talk about how the Obama administration can partner with cities.

Booker's City Hall Director of Communication tweeted word of his participation yesterday.

A spokesman for Booker would not elaborate on what other mayors would be partcipating in the meeting according to the Star Ledger.

Booker's opponent in the race to fill the vacancy created by the death of Frank Lautenberg,  Republican Steve Lonegan, has made Newark's rising number of violent crimes have risen during Booker's time in office.
