The band quietly announced the new date for the July 24 show as being July 27 in a post on its Facebook page late Tuesday night in announcing the addition of the J. Geils Band to the line up. Those who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster were sent an email.

According to a press release on the MetLife Stadium website, the change was made due to "scheduling considerations."

Tickets purchased for July 24 will be honored on July 27.  Tickets for the new date will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

The band on its own website announced that Richie Sambora will continue his absence from the band. "Due to a personal matter, Richie Sambora will not be performing on the European and South African leg of the tour. All shows will go on as scheduled," said the brief statement. The Because We Can Tour picks up again in Cape Town, Africa on May 7.

Sambora left the band at the beginning of April before a show in Calgary because of "personal issuets." His prolonged absence has led to rumors about another rehab stint for the guitarist and a major falling out between Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi.
