LAKEWOOD — Search and rescue crews recovered a body from Lake Shenandoah early Sunday, ending the search for a man who went missing Friday night, police said.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending the release of his identity to his family as the investigation continues. Witnesses in Lakewood said they saw a man walk into Lake Shenandoah Friday night and within minutes he began waving his arms for help before sinking into the water.

The search had been suspended late Friday as several dive teams from the area along with a State Police helicopter commenced an investigation into the man's alleged disappearance.

First responders from Howell and Brick, State Police and Lakewood Chaverium Volunteer Emergency Services assisted the Lakewood water rescue team.
