Body Found Off Sandy Hook in Shipping Lanes
A body was found floating off Sandy Hook in the Ambrose Channel shipping lanes Monday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
A fisherman found the body in the Channel around 6:30 a.m. and reported it to the Coast Guard PIX 11 reported. The body was taken to Sandy Hook and an investigation is underway.
US Coast Guard spokesman Charles Rowe tells the Asbury Park Press there were no reported boat accidents or anyone reported missing. New Jersey State Police are handing the investigation.
The US Army Corp of Engineers calls Ambrose Channel the main shipping channel in and out of the Ports of New York and New Jersey.
