Authorities are trying to recover a body they discovered just before starting to clean Tropical Storm Irene debris from a northern New Jersey river.

The man's body was face down in an intake pool on the Passaic River bank, just above the Dundee Dam in Clifton.

Officials tell The Record newspaper the body did not appear to be too decomposed.

The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission had planned to free the river of fallen trees and other debris.
