NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Blaze is a handsome young Russian Blue cat who was found wondering around the Metuchen Train Station. We are not sure where he wanted to go, but we are glad this lovable boy ended up at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter. He has been a delightful guest and now he's ready to find his forever family. Blaze loves to play and when he tires out he enjoys cuddling up. He is neutered, FIV/FeLV negative and up-to-date on his vaccinations.

If you're interested in meeting Blaze or fostering/adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call us at 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Ladybug

Up for adoption through EASEL, is a beautiful 3-year-old goofy and snuggly Pit Bull and Labrador retriever mix named Ladybug. She's spayed, up-to-date on shots, healthy and has tons of energy, personality and charisma. Ladybug loves being the center of attention and loves when lots of people are over. She also loves to play and is a true love bug. In fact, she likes nothing better than to snuggle on the couch and give you big, wet, loving kisses. She was rescued from a kill shelter in March and has been staying with a foster family that includes two humans and a dog brother. She gets along great with people, but needs time to warm up to other dogs. With plenty of socialization and the right kind of family, Ladybug will make a wonderful addition to any home.

If you’re interested in learning more about Ladybug or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Gidget

Gidget is the newest arrival at Edison Municipal Animal Shelter. She's a young Boxer mix who came in as a stray. Her coat is a toffee color, just like the candy, and she has the most adorable face. Gidget's personality is so wonderful that all you'll want to do is scoop her up and bring her home the day you meet her. Her body language is very positive and her tail is always wagging with happiness. This little girl is very trusting and innocent, just like a puppy. If you sit on the floor with her, she wants to snuggle up and give you kisses. Gidget enjoys taking long walks and has so much fun playing and romping around with the other dogs at the shelter. To keep Gidget healthy and happy, she will need lots of cuddle time, walks, exercise, mental stimulation and playtime. She is very smart and will do well in a training class.

If you're interested in meeting Gidget or fostering/adopting her, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Luke

Luke is a 3-year-old marvelous male cat at the Ewing Animal Shelter. He’s very affectionate and always looking to please. A good scratch will go a long way toward winning his heart. Luke was diagnosed FIV, which is why his owners chose to dump him at the shelter. While this disease does not necessarily affect Luke’s life expectancy, he is more susceptible to illness than other cats. Also, FIV can be transmitted to other cats via blood-to-blood contact. Luke would be best suited for a home without other cats or a home in which the other cats also have FIV. Although Luke has a condition, that does not at all determine his personality. He is an incredibly sweet boy who deserves lots of love and a forever home.

To schedule a visit to meet Luke, please email kitty@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. You can find more of EASEL’s adoptable cats and kittens here, or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
