Former President Bill Clinton has weighed in on a New Jersey primary race that pits two veteran House Democrats against each other.

Clinton on Friday endorsed Rep. Bill Pascrell over Rep. Steven Rothman in the 9th Congressional District.

The former president says Pascrell helped write President Barack Obama's health care law and he's a leader protecting and strengthening Social Security and Medicare.

Pascrell and Rothman will face each other in the June primary after a redistricting panel redrew boundaries to reflect population changes. Rothman decided to move back to Englewood instead of challenging Republic Rep. Scott Garrett in the 5th Congressional District.
