NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Adopt Biff and Buzz

Biff and Buzz are two black, velvet teenage kittens from a litter of three. Biff and Buzz are handsome, playful boys. Buzz is polydactyl, which means he has six toes on his front paws. They are gentle and love attention. Biff and Buzz cannot understand why no one has adopted them yet from the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter, but they know people can be silly about black cats sometimes. In Asia, black cats symbolize good luck. Biff and Buzz promise that they will bring you nothing but good luck if you take them home! They are FIV and FeLv negative, neutered and vaccinated.

If you're interested in meeting Biff and Buzz or fostering/adopting them, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Mikey

Mikey is a happy young Labrador retriever and American Staffordshire Terrier mix at the Ewing Animal Shelter. He likes to play and go on walks, but needs some training on manners and patience like any young dog does. Mikey lacks focus when there is a distraction, but he’s very smart and knows how to listen. He will sit patiently when his leash is being put on so that he can go on a walk.

If you’re interested in learning more about Mikey or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Millie

Millie is a 4-year-old Pit Bull mix who arrived at Edison Municipal Animal Shelter after being found tied to fence post. Even though she was abandoned, it doesn't seem to faze her at all. Millie loves the shelter so much that when she gets nearby, you better be ready because she starts to pick up the pace to quickly get back home. Can you imagine how fast she will run to get to her forever home? She will probably run faster than the speed of light! An endearing little fact about Millie is that when you are alone with her, she will pick up her toys and blankets and put them in a pile in the middle of the room. It's like she is creating a cozy little picnic just for the two of you.

Millie loves attention and enjoys being petted so much that she never wants you to stop. Her face lights up like a thousand candles into the most gigantic smile ever, and she keeps turning around and around so that you don't miss a spot! She puts her head down and leans into you as if she is saying, "I love you so much, I am so grateful and I feel like I am in heaven, thank you, thank you, thank you!" She is such a sweet, little love bug! She would thrive in a home where she could be doted on as the only animal and given the attention that she has been longing for and deserves. She's loyal, knows some basic commands, is attentive and takes treats gently from your hand. She would make an enthusiastic exercise partner, and best of all, she would make an excellent couch potato companion.

If you're interested in meeting Millie or fostering/adopting her, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Luke

Luke

Luke is a 3-year-old marvelous male cat at the Ewing Animal Shelter. He's very affectionate and always looking to please. A good scratch will go a long way toward winning his heart.  Luke was diagnosed FIV, which is why his owners chose to dump him at the shelter. While this disease does not necessarily affect Luke's life expectancy, he is more susceptible to illness than other cats. Also, FIV can be transmitted to other cats via blood-to-blood contact. Luke would be best suited for a home without other cats or a home in which the other cats also have FIV. Although Luke has a condition, that does not at all determine his personality. He is an incredibly sweet boy who deserves lots of love and a forever home.

To schedule a visit to meet Luke, please email kitty@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. You can find more of EASEL’s adoptable cats and kittens here, or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
