LITTLE FALLS — A black bear cub was spotted in town on Saturday, but as of Sunday afternoon the mayor said he had made his way back into the woods.

Mayor James Damiano posted on his Facebook page Saturday morning that the bear had been seen in the town, and that "State Fish & Game has been advised."

"However, pursuant to Wildlife regulations there is no action the police or Wildlife can take," he said. Please know that black bears are not normally aggressive if unprovoked, please to not try to get close to the bear."

Damiano provided an update on the cub Sunday afternoon.

"The bear has not been spotted in Little Falls yet today,"he said. "It seems it wandered off to another town."
