It's believed to be 17-year-old Rudy Mena, a Paterson boy who went missing last weekend.  Police believe he died after getting caught in a rip current.

In order to make a positive identification,  Mena’s older brother, Jose, tells the Bergen Record that authorities contacted his sister and asked for dental records. They told her the clothing found on the body, which authorities described to family members as khaki shorts with pockets, and a watch, are consistent with what his brother was wearing when he disappeared on the beach in Long Branch.

“All the details that they have match, so we are waiting for the call,’’ he said.

A body was recovered on Saturday by lifeguards near Laird Street and Ocean Avenue in Long Branch on Saturday. Law enforcement on scene told Townsquare Media they believed the body was Mena.
