Authorities: Child killed, mother injured in crash

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a child was killed and her mother was injured when their pickup truck crashed on a southern New Jersey highway.

Middle Township police tell The Press of Atlantic City that the crash on Route 47 occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

They say the truck driven by Kristin Conner of Lower Township was driving northbound when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree. Her 11-year-old daughter was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries, while Conner was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and charges have been filed so far.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
