Whenever you see a beautiful hotel online or a great cheeseburger or food add on tv or in print, it reminds me of peoples' Facebook page. The food or hotel or person is never as enticing or wonderful as they are in the ad.
Yesterday on the show I mentioned making riceballs over the holidays. Here is a video of the basic recipe with my friend Alicia Vitarelli. Later today I will post an alternate recipe for a different filling. Buon appetitto!
Being I guess what you'd call a "casual sports fan", I rarely get too excited for professional sports. This years NHL Winter Classic however was different. New Jersey's hockey fans are a mixed bag. South of "the line" it's Flyers fans and north of "the line" it's a mix of Devils fans and a lot of Rangers fans.
Today on the show we talked about hybrid cars and the new light bulbs and how to be green and still not pollute the planet "long term". We got a call from one of our favorite listeners, Mike Strizki who is involved in hydrogen technology, clean energy.
Political discourse these days centers around one of the handful of labels we all use to identify ourselves and our adversaries. Well yesterday on the show we got a random call from a very sweet, very youthful sounding and very vibrant 77-year-old woman who called just to tell us how much she loves our show. (By the way I love that we get 18 and 25 and 35 and 50 year-olds that enjoy what we do)
The mayor of my town of Medford New Jersey resigned Monday amidst a sex scandal and a shaky financial situation that has tarnished the towns image as of late. Well, this past Saturday night the town held its annual "Dickens Festival" complete with carolers and characters in 18th century garb and a live nativity scene off Main St.
I know for a lot of us watching something online is tedious if it's more than 3 or 4 minutes, but you HAVE TO take just less than half an hour and watch this video. It re-enforces what I know and believe about the United States of America, but we all take for granted how special this country really is AND how terribly close we are to losing it, perhaps forever.
Today we touched on a story about perks of certain jobs and how the state is trying to rein in cash payouts for accrued sick time. Something that just doesn't happen in the private sector and doesn't even happen that often in public employment outside of NEW JERSEY.
