The Rutgers-Eagleton poll released Tuesday also finds a majority supports Gov. Chris Christie's appointment last month of an emergency manager for Atlantic City.

Sixty-three percent of respondents say the seaside gambling resort's best days are in the past while only 25 percent say they're still to come.

The poll also finds 57 percent agree with an emergency manager for Atlantic City, while 35 percent think the city should sort things out on its own.

Four of Atlantic City's 12 casinos closed last year and the city has massive financial problems.

The telephone poll has a margin of effort of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points. It was conducted Feb. 3-10.
