The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority authorized roughly 40 buildings to receive the façade improvements between now and September, most of which will be located on Atlantic Avenue.

“We focused on the blocks to start between the Tangier Outlets and Revel so that’s the southern part of the district, and then we’ll move toward Margate,” said John Palmieri, executive director of the CRDA.

The initial buildings were chosen by the CRDA on the basis of which properties needed the rehabilitation, however Palmieiri said the applications are open to any businesses.

“We really opened it up to anyone who wants to participate so that we can get them on the list and get them qualify,” Palmieri said.

Businesses will receive forgivable loans from the CRDA, and property owners who qualify and do the needed improvement will have their loan forgiven over 10 years in increments of 10 percent per year.

“From repainting the bricks to new signage, to corner work, to glass work for the retail stores,” Palmieri said.

The CRDA hopes to have upwards of 80 façade improvements in the span of a year and half.
