Fiery crash on Atlantic City Expressway crash kills 2 people
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP (AP) — State troopers are investigating a crash on the Atlantic City Expressway that killed two people.
Authorities say troopers responded to the Expressway in Hamilton Township at about 1:30 p.m. Friday in snowy conditions to find an accident that involved at least two cars, one of which was on fire.
State Police say Sean McBride, 35, of Egg Harbor Township, was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty with passenger Gabrielle Lynnes, 31, of Marmora when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a 2003 BMW that was stopped on the right shoulder. Scott Lerario, 38, of Linwood was outside of the BMW checking on a flat when the crash occurred. He was struck and thrown by the Jeep Liberty.
McBride and Lynnes were being removed from their Jeep when State Police arrived after it had caught fire. All 3 were taken to AltantiCare Medical Center where Lerario remains in stable condition.
The cause of the crash wasn't released and it's unclear if the snow played a role, but state police tweeted late Friday afternoon that people were "still driving too fast for conditions."
