Atlantic County prosecutors say officers went to the Cedar Market shortly before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a 911 call.

They soon encountered a man outside the store, and he was shot during an ensuing confrontation. He was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead there a short time later.

Meanwhile, authorities found a man's body inside the store, apparently the victim of a stabbing.

Authorities have not said if the incidents are linked, citing the ongoing investigation. The names of the men were not disclosed.

The shooting will be reviewed by the prosecutor's office, which is standard procedure for police-involved shootings. Pursuant to policy, the Atlantic City Police Department will not be involved in the investigation.
