Atlantic City Casino Revenue Falls Again In September [AUDIO]

Atlantic City’s casinos saw another revenue drop in September, and that included the newest player in town.

Casino revenue in Atlantic City fell more than 6 percent in September versus September of last year. It works out to $276 million for September.

Revel won less money from gamblers in September, just under $17 million, down from $20 million in August.

So far, Revel has not been the catalyst that many in Atlantic City had hoped it would be in growing the gambling market, which has been shrinking ever since 2007.

Gaming and hospitality expert Israel Posner of Richard Stockton College says it isn’t as bad as it seems, when you consider the fact A-C’s non-gaming revenue continues to rise.

He says, “What you see is a steady increase. And right now it is now above 20 percent.”

Posner calls that a “substantial increase” in non-gaming revenue.

Posner says Revel is a different kind of resort for Atlantic City, and they will continue, along with everyone else in town, to emphasize the value of being a total resort destination that’s more than just casinos.
