Assemblywoman Connie Wagner Drops Re-Election Bid
A New Jersey state lawmaker has unexpectedly ended her re-election bid.
Democratic Assemblywoman Connie Wagner cited family reasons for dropping out. She announced her plans Tuesday -- one week after the retired school teacher from Paramus easily won her party's primary.
Wagner said her son and daughter-in-law in Florida are expecting a child this summer, and she plans to spend a lot of time helping them with the child.
Wagner represents the 38th District, which includes several Bergen County towns and one in Passaic County. She has served in the Assembly since 2007.
It's not known when Democratic party officials will choose a replacement for Wagner.
