Asm. Gusciora: How I’m trying to help preserve the Princeton Battlefield

My fight to help preserve the hallowed grounds of the Princeton Battlefield received some more support today in the form of NJ Assemblyman Reed Gusciora.

Gusciora thinks that at the very least right now, "I think at this point it's the court of public opinion but also Commissioner Martin could at least grant a stay, pending the end of the court process that's in the appellate division and I hope that the commissioner does side with us. " The Assemblyman said that while he has reached out to Martin on multiple platforms, the commissioner has not responded to him as of yet.

I voiced my frustration about how we really haven't heard much of anything from the NJ DEP on this, on arguably one of the most historic sites in the state. Gusciora agreed. "What's so diabolical about the institute is that they won't even display publicly what's been found archaeologically on that site. At the very least the institute should turn that over to the state museum or let archaeologists to survey what they found on the property. That is where the first U.S. Marine casualty occurred and that's also where the first engagement of African American troops. So there's so many historical firsts there."

Assemblyman Gusciora will follow up with Bob Martin of the DEP, the person who can grant a stay until the appellate court can do their job.
