Authorities say an 11-year-old New Jersey girl hit in the face by a stray bullet when someone started shooting into her home last weekend should fully recover from her injuries.

The girl, whose name was not disclosed, was cleaning her room when she was shot late Sunday night. She remained hospitalized Tuesday afternoon in critical but stable condition, but city police say she's showing some signs of progress.

Authorities initially said the shooting was drug-related, but announced Tuesday that further investigation had disproved that.

They say another person inside the Asbury Park home was the intended target, but will not provide further details due to the ongoing investigation.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting. And it's still not clear how many people may have been involved.
