On the same day that it was revealed that American men have bigger guts and bigger butts than the rest of the world, it was also announced that some airlines are taking delivery of slimmer seats for their planes.

These new seats will allow the airlines to fit more passengers in the cabin and they maintain that customers won't notice the difference. I find that hard to believe; while the inches lost are primarily front to back, they still wouldn't be able to fit more people in if the seats weren't smaller. One other interesting addition is that Alaska Air is adding power outlets to its seats. The airline will have 110 volt and USB power at all the seats.
