The robbery occurred around 10:20 p.m. Saturday at the Monmouth rest area near milemarker 100 in Wall Township.

The man was armed with a black handgun when he told three station employees to go to the ground. He then took the workers' cellphones and made them open the station's safe.

The bandit then ran across the northbound lanes of the parkway and drove off in a car that had been parked on the shoulder. He remained at large on Sunday.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.
