A former New Jersey high school football player is headed to prison for his role in a string of armed robberies.

Naquese Joshua was sentenced Friday to 10 years in a juvenile justice facility. He will have to serve nearly nine years before he becomes eligible for parole.

Authorities say Joshua was one of four former Lakewood High School football players who used a toy gun to rob several people in separate holdups that occurred in 2014.

None of the victims were physically injured in the robberies. But Ocean County prosecutors say some of them were "emotionally traumatized" by what happened.

Two other players have also received prison sentences. The remaining player is due to be sentenced later this month.
