Amtrak spokesman Steve Kulm says the first train is due to arrive in the city at 8:45 p.m., and the first train will leave the city at 9 p.m.

The railroad said earlier this week that it planned to resume service on Friday, but Kulm said repairs to flooded train tunnels went faster than expected. Reservations and ticketing for the modified service are now available.

Earlier Thursday, the railroad reopened one of two train tunnels under the Hudson River.
